Hula Hair Barbie - Barbie the Collab

Summer 2023 — As the Barbie movie hype reached its peak, artists united on Instagram to celebrate their favorite childhood dolls. I chose the iconic Hula Hair Barbie—a souvenir from my cousin’s trip to Disney World in the ‘90s. In Brazil, this era was obsessed with Hawaii, thanks to É o Tchan’s viral hit "É o Tchan no Hawaii," and this doll embodied that fantasy. With her mesmerizing pink-and-orange hair (strictly off-limits to my touch), she became my forbidden muse. This illustration pays homage to the Barbie I never owned but forever adored—brushed secretly for years, now immortalized in my art.
